+ What style of yoga is thaught at the Retreat?

We offer Jivamukti Open Style Yoga classes in our retreat. To give you a better understanding of what a Jivamukti Open class is we have added this explanation from the Jivamukti New York website for you:

Whether you're a beginner, deciphering the difference between vrksasana (tree) and sirshasana(headstand) or an advanced yogi who can put both feet behind their head, the Jivamukti Open class welcomes you, as it is open to practitioners of all levels.

You work at your own pace, following the teacher's verbal as well as hands-on guidance. Asana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.

A typical Open class incorporates the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga:

shastra (scripture)
bhakti (devotion)
ahimsa (kindness)
nada (music)
dhyana (meditation)

An Open class presents classical yoga teachings as relevant to one’s life on and off the mat, drawn from the Focus of the Month essay, supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyasa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation and meditation. All Open classes include 14 points—asanas, meditation and spiritual teachings—in a sequence creatively designed by the teacher. Exuberant, eclectic music plays an integral role: you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of ragas, global trance, hip-hop, spoken word, George Harrison, Sting, Krishna Das, Donna de Lory, Michael Franti, Bill Laswell, Alice Coltrane and Mozart.

The class is called “Open” because it is open and suitable to all levels of practitioner. Even so, beginning level students should know that there will not be much detailed “how to do” descriptions; for that a student is advised to attend a Basic or Beginner Vinyasa Class. The length of an Open class may differ at different centers, so please check the schedule for the center you are attending."

Besides the open classes there will be classes in a workshop style where we will focus on differnt aspects of the practice and deepen your understanding in a more detailed way. You will have the chance to receive more assists and advice from Ian and practice with your fellow students.

+ Do i have to be experienced in Jivamukti Yoga?

There is no need in beeing experineced in any kind of yoga - though it helps. The Jivamukti classe offer a wide range of practice for students of each level. If you have the chance though to attend a Jivamukti Yoga class before coming to the retreat we highly recommend it. You can check the Jivamukti New York website for a worldwide list of teachers.

+ I'm not vegan. Can I come to the retreat?

Absolutely. Our aim is to inspire not to judge. Our food will be 100% vegan but we respect that each individual has their own approach to a vegan diet. If you are curios and come to the retrat to experience a vegan diet without havening to think about shopping or cooking that's a wonderful step to take. We want to give you the possibility to feel for yourself how it is to be vegan at leasdt for the time of the retreat.

+ Will the vegan diet provide enough nutrition for the practice?

We are Yoga practicioners ourselfs and can say out of our own experinece that a vegan diet prodvides enough nutrion and fuel for a strong Yoga parctice like Jivamukti. We will take care that every partocipant of the retreat will get enough food to nourish the body but also your pallet.

+ I have friends on the island. Can they join the classes?

This will depend a bit on the number of participants in the retreat. If we are fully booked we will have the classes closed to the retreat participants. But we plan to have an open night. One evening we want to invite residents and other poeple from the island to join us for a Yoga class and a shared dinner so we can give back some of the magic that the island is offering. If the retreat doesn't sell out though there might be a chance that we will offer some more public classes.

+ Will there be time to explore the island?

Absolutely. We encourage you to explore and roam around Ibiza. It's a wonderful place and has a lot to discover. The retreat is an offer for you to dive deeper into the practice but it's still meant to be a time where you can retreat from your daily routine. So we wont put limits on your freedom. We can only offer to follow the the daily activities that we will offer you. There will be plenety of time between breakfast and the afternoon classes to relax, exlpore or retraet fro yourself or with others from the group. On some occasions we will even take you on trips to places around the island.
